Here’s a great example of being over-prepared: Having lived through countless Minnesota winters that involved long stretches of sub-zero temperatures, and being a person who is naturally SUPER cold, I finally sprung for some truly massive sweaters to wear when this one was at the cleaners. The one you see here has been on my wishlist for at least three years, and was ordered direct from a lovely woman named Helga who told me that since it was out of stock, they’d have to knit one up special for me. Totally worth the investment and the month-long wait. ALTHOUGH this blissfully abbreviated winter meant I only wore it once.

And THIS one hails from eBay – an Irish sweater made from a lofty wool/cashmere blend – and is a joy to wear. It, too, only got a single outing this winter.
To be clear: I am not complaining. In fact, I’m over the moon that it’s actually spring in March! Just surprised as hell that investing in a handful of serious sweaters (including this one) turned out to be … unnecessary. Who could’ve predicted it?
